Jesus, our Faithful High Priest

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. Psalms 1:3 KJV

This is a picture of a tree I did for my daughter, based on the above Scripture, one of my favorites. Thought I would share.

In the meantime, we are deep into the Book of Hebrews, chapter 7, talking about Jesus being our High Priest after the order of Melchizedek.  And what we have said is even more clear if another priest like Melchizedek appears, one who has become a priest not on the basis of a regulation as to his ancestry but on the basis of the power of an indestructible life. For it is declared:“You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.” Hebrews 7:15-17 AMP

Jesus ever lives to intercede for us, helping us in our weakness and infirmities and in our time of trial and need. When we feel doubtful, discouraged, and fearful, He is there to offer up prayers and petitions to the Father and then speak the Father's prophetic word or a scripture back to us, imparting wisdom, hope, and joy to us and flooding our hearts with His shalom peace.

He is a wonderful high priest, given this position by God via an oath and not due to a fleshly, ancestral privilege from the Levitical priestly line as was required under the Old Covenant. No, He is from Judah, from a different priestly line in the order of Melchizedek (king of righteousness and peace) who functions under the New Covenant of Grace. He is the Son of God who operates as a high priest forever in the power of an endless and indestructible life. If there is a new priesthood, then that means there's a New Covenant - the old way of the Law is obsolete because the new way of Grace has come! God has a brand new way of doing things through His Son, Jesus!

Has the Lord called you by  name to do certain things for the kingdom that seem impossible in accordance with the Law or the rules of this world system we live in? Has He put dreams and desires in your heart that defy your logic, intellectual, or physical abilities? Perhaps you do not have the appropriate ancestral, family, or physical prowess, finances, or opportunities to make that dream a reality - but does that matter?

If the Lord has called you, then He will make it come to pass - He just needs you to step out in faith and following the prompting of the Holy Spirit. Look at your high priest as an example - Jesus wasn't a Levi, He wasn't qualified under the Mosaic Law to be a high priest, and yet He is! He was from Nazareth, a carpenter's son, born to a woman who got pregnant out of wedlock! Would the Law say He is qualified to be Messiah? And yet He is.

If you are born again, IN HIM, part of the body of Christ, then you are equally qualified to do ALL He is calling you to do. Don't look to your circumstances and fleshly abilities, look only to Him. He has given you His power of an endless and indestructible life!
